16. Natural vegetation of India

Natural Vegetation : India has various types of soils, climates, mountains, plateaus and plains. These are the natural elements. Different areas of the country have different rainfalls. Our natural vegetation has bushes, rain forests, thorns, alpine vegetation and tidal forests.
Climatic distribution of Natural Vegetation : Temperature and rainfall has a great impact on natural vegetation. Climatic factors are as follows—
(i) The areas which have a high temperature and a heavy rainfall have dense forests. In these areas the trees are tall. Western ghats have evergreen forests.
(ii) The areas having high temperatures but less rainfall have less vegetation. Scanty vegetation of Rajasthan is an example.
(iii) Areas having low temperature and less rainfall have scanty vegetation
