The memorable moment

Last summer I visited Edinburgh with my parents. After spending a few days in the city we decided to take trip into the highlands of Scotland. Everyone told us that it is a very beautiful area with a lot of mountains, rivers and lakes, or lochs as they are called in Scotland. We discovered that the highlands were just as lovely as people said they were. The scenery was incredibly beautiful. The hills towered above us as we drove through one picturesque valley after the other. Often, beautiful, silvery, clear rivers ran through the valleys.
It was autumn when we made our trip to the highlands and the colours were wonderful. The leaves were just beginning to turn to various shades of yellow and red and the hills were purple with heather. The skies were blue and cloudless throughout our stay. This was unusual and we stayed, in an area where it often rains.
One night we were out much later than usual, driving very slowly and carefully along a narrow mountain road. As we turned a corner we saw a most amazing site. The sun was just setting over the loch. There was a herd of deer silhouetted against the sky.
The loch was a dark inky blue and the sky seemed to have almost every colour in an artist’s palette. I have never seen anything quite so colourful or quite so breathtaking. The view was made even more beautiful by the presence of the deer. There they stood, holding their heads and their antlers high, looking so magnificent.
The entire trip to the highlands was memorable, but looking at that sunset view was an unforgettable experience. Wherever I travel or whatever sights I see in the future, I shall never forget that view.
