What I Would Like To Become

When I grow up I would like to be a surgeon. Surgeons do a wonderful job by operating on people and, perhaps, saving their lives.
I have always wanted to study medicine when I leave school. My father is a GP and I am sometimes allowed to go on his house calls with him. Seems how he can cure people or make them feel better made me want to be a doctor, too.
I did not know much about Surgery until recently when my best friend jack got a serious kidney complaint. His parents were told that jack would have to have a kidney transplant as soon as possible, or he might die.
Fortunately, a donor was found fairly and jack was given a new kidney. He recovered remarkably quickly and his experience got me interested in transplant surgery.
I read about the Surgeon who pioneered transplant surgery. He was a South African surgeon called Christian Bernard and he performed the first human heart transplant in December 1967. What I learnt about his work made me want to be a transplant surgeon.
Surgeons must have a degree in medicine before they specialize in surgery. In order to study medicine you have to be good at science. Fortunately, science is my best subject at school.
Surgeons open people up and then sue them up again when the operations have been performed. To be a surgeon you have to be good at doing things with hands.
I am quite used to working with my hand. My uncle tom is a carpenter and my uncle Brian is a car mechanic. Both of them let me help them sometimes.
I will have to work very hard if I am to become a surgeon. However, it will be worth it if I achieve my ambition.
