The Yamuna

River Yamuna flows down from the Himalayas.
The Himalayas are a chain of high mountains.
When the snow of the Himalayas melts, the water flows as rivers and streams. The Yamuna is one such river. New Delhi is situated on the banks of the Yamuna.
Many major cities, like Agra and Allahabad, are built on the banks of the river.
The Taj Mahal is built on the banks of the river.
Yamuna meets the Ganga at Allahabad.
The Ganga is another major river of our country.
The city of Allahabad is therefore said to be holy.
The Ganga and the Yamuna flow together and enter West Bengal. Here the Brahmaputra meets them.
The three rivers now have a new name- Hooghly.
River Hooghly passes through the city of Kolkata and enters the Bay of Bengal. The delta formed by Ganga-Yamuna-Brahmaputra is the largest in the world.
