Beauty is but Skin-deep

If money is power, knowledge is power, so is beauty. A thing of beauty gives eternal joy. A pretty face cheers you up. It is good to look healthy, charming and cheerful. But it is silly to feel proud of one’s physical beauty. Beauty of the face is only nine days’ wonder. It is fleeting or short-lived. Moreover, a person is truly loved and honoured not for his handsome looks but for his nobility of character. Moral beauty is the real beauty. Look at the living legends like Mother Teresa. She was heavily wrinkled and bent double with age, but she had spiritual beauty, the beauty of noble thoughts and actions. She is revered by all the great men of the world. Finally, we should adjudge the worth of a person not by his appearance but by his wisdom or his deeds.
Vocabulary
Cheerful—happy
