Reliance Divided (Business & Economy)

The Ambani brothers dispute over late Dhirubhai Ambani’s legacy was solved by his wife Kokilaben Ambani.
There had been a conflict going on between the two brothers Mukesh Ambani and Anil Ambani for the acquisition of ownership of the Reliance Group.
Kokilaben, their mother, settled down the dispute by dividing the entire organisation into three main parts—30% of ownership rights would be given to Mukesh Ambani, 30% of Reliance would belong to Anil Ambani and 40% of the Reliance group would belong to Kokilaben.
Mukesh got Reliance Industries Ltd. (RIL) and IPCL. The market capital of RIL is 83,863 crores, sales cross 73,000 crore and net profit cross 7,572 crores of ruppees. The market capital of IPCL company is 4,003 crores, sales cross 9,000 crores and net profit cross 750 crores.
Anil’s companies are Reliance Capital Ltd., Reliance Energy Ltd. and Reliance Infocom.
The market capital of RCL (Reliance Capital Ltd.) is 3,038 crores, sales cross Rs 250 crores, and net profit cross 100 crores. The market capital of Reliacne Energy Ltd. is 11,000 crores, sales cross Rs. 4,500 crores and net profit cross Rs. 500 crores.
The sales of Reliance Infocom cross over Rs. 5,000 crores and net profit cross 50 crores.
The ownership dispute was solved with the intervention of two wise advisors named Mr. K.V. Kamath and Mr. N. Kampani, who portayed great brilliance in bringing settlement between the two brothers. Both the judicious advisors of Kokilaben gave their decision to devide 30% of Reliance amongst Anil, Mukesh and herself and give 5% of ownership rights to each of her daughters. Thus, the matter were solved amicably and everyone got his due share.
Anil Ambani was grateful to his mother for giving justice to him. He said that it feel as if he has been born for two times from the same mother. Mukesh Ambani was still not contented after acquiring more than 8,000 crores of ownership rights. He said that he wanted to have a flourishing company called ‘Infocom’ as he was still dissatisfied for what he possess.
The Ambani dispute has however been solved, but it is yet to be seen, who create a more successful Reliance empire—Mukesh or Anil? Only God knows.
