Marriages are made in heaven

Origin

This is a 16th-century proverb.
Explanation
A marriage which is likely to be happy and successful because the two people are very well suited to each other. This proverb is used for a happy or harmonious marriage or partnership. This does not mean that persons in heaven “marry and are given in marriage,” but that the partners joined in marriage on earth were foreordained to be so united. It means that two people are so well suited to each other, that their meeting and becoming a couple is perfect. It’s literally a match made in heaven. For the most part, the western world has dropped the custom of arranged marriages, but marriages are often arranged in heaven for souls – and by souls – long before the life of the persons involved. Purpose flows throughout all live, including any marriage(s) in it. These purposes existed before the persons did. The reason for planning marriages on a soul level is to promote soul growth. Thus a “marriage made in heaven” may be quite different from the usual earthly meaning of that term.
Examples
The partnership of George and Ira Gershwin was a match made in heaven; they wrote such beautiful songs.
He calls the deal between the two companies a marriage made in heaven.
