Fruits are considered best food in different diseases. But full care should be taken while taking fruits in different diseases. Not every fruit is useful in every kind of disease. So, here we are describe useful fruits—Asiatic Greenvia (Phalsa), Apple, Avocado, Banana, Date, Kins (Bael), Grapes, Guava (Amrood) etc. orange, papaya (Papita), Pomegranate (Anar), Water-melon (Tarbooj), Embilic Myrobalans (Amla) etc.

Fruits are a rich source of many Nutrients

Apple
The active medicine principle of apple is pectin, natural therapeutic ingredient found in the inner portion of the rind and the pulp. Pectin aids in detoxification by supplying the galacturonic acid needed for the elimination of certain harmful substances. The malic acid contained in the apple is beneficial to the bowels, liver and brain. Its curative properties are given below:
Constipation and Diarrhoea
Apples are beneficial in the treatment of both constipation and diarrhoea. Raw apples are good for constipation. At least two apples should be taken daily for proper evacuation of bowels. Cooked or baked apples are good for diarrhoea. The cooking process softens the cellulose and provides bulk to the faeces.
Dysentery
Apples have been found useful in acute and chronic dysentery among children. Ripe and sweet apples should be crushed into pulp and given to the child several times a day, from one to four tablespoonfuls, according to age, in this disorder. The American Medical Association has also advocated the use of apples as therapeutic agent in dysentery.
Stomach Disorders
A natural ‘apple medicine’ for the disturbed stomach is prepared by slicing whole apple and gently pounding it until it becomes slightly mashed. It may be sprinkled with cinnamon or honey The entire mashed apple may be eat except for the stem and seeds. It should be chewed thoroughly before swallowing This preparation should be taken several times between meals for beneficial results The all-natural medicinal substance, pectin, in the mashed apple works to create a protective coating action by virtue of its qualities as an absorbent and demulcent i.e. the soothing agent.

Headache
Apples are highly beneficial in the treatment of all types of headache. A ripe apple, after removing the upper rind and the inner hard portion should be taken with a little salt every morning on empty stomach in such cases. This should be continued for about a week. It will yield good results even in cases of disgusting chronic headache.
Anaemia
Apples, being rich in iron, arsenic acid, phosphorus, are highly beneficial in the treatment of anaemia. It will be particularly useful in the form of fleshly prepared apple juice. It may be taken in quantities of 1 kg. daily with beneficial results. The best time to take the juice is half an hour before meals and just before retiring to bed. The cider should be drawn from selected apples which should be thoroughly washed before crushing.

Apple is the best fruit to fight Anaemia

Heart Disease
Apples are of special value to heart patients. They are rich in potassium and phosphorus but low in sodium. From ancient times, apple with honey is considered a very effective remedy for functional disorders of heart. Recent researches by Dr. Elizabeth Barret Cannon of California University have revealed that people who consume plenty of potassium through food items are likely to escape heart attacks. Apples, as a good source of potassium, help in the alleviation of heart disease.
High Blood Pressure
Apples are considered invaluable in the cases of high blood pressure. The apple diet has a rapid and considerable diuretic effect causing increased secretion of urine and thus bringing down blood pressure to normal. It also relieves the kidneys by reducing the supply of sodium chloride to a minimum. In addition, it lowers the sodium level in the tissues because of the high level of potassium in apples.
Rheumatic Afflictions
Apples are regarded an excellent food medicine for gout, arthritis and rheumatism especially when these diseases are caused by uric acid poisoning. The malic acid continued in them is believed to neutralise the uric acid and afford relief to the very good liniment for sufferers. Apples, boiled to a jelly, make a the affected rheumatic pains. The over-ripe apples are useful as a poultice for sore eyes. The pulp is applied over the closed eyes and is held in position with a bandage. It is allowed to remain there for one to two hours.
Dental Disorders
Tooth-decay can be prevented by regular consumption of apples as they possess a mouth cleansing property. Dr. T.T. Hanks in his book, Dental Survey, says, ‘‘Apples have mouth cleansing property that no other fruit possesses, and taken after meals, they have the same effect as a tooth brush in cleansing the teeth, with the added advantage that the acid content, aside from its nutritive value, is of assistance in promoting the flow of saliva in the mouth, which is also beneficial to the teeth.’’ The acid of the apple also, exerts an antiseptic influence upon the germs present in the mouth and teeth when it is thoroughly chewed. Apples are thus regarded as a natural preserver of the teeth and should be taken in all tooth troubles.

Taking Phalsey with Sendha Namak daily in summer is refreshing and good for health.
Anaemia
Taking about 200-260 gms Phalsey with Sendha Namak eliminates Anaemia.
Its stones may also be crushed along Phalsey during summer for it eliminates the urinary problems and leucorrhoea in ladies.
Indigestion
Taking Phalsey with Sendha Namak and black pepper increases appetite and cures indigestion.
Heart Problems
Taking juice of fresh and ripe phalsey with little sonth and jaggery strengthens the heart.
Avocado
The avocado possesses virtues of extraordinary character. For purity, wholesomeness, ease of digestibility and adaptation, to human needs, it has few rivals. Its curative properties are given below.
Beauty Aid
The oil extracted from the avocado is employed in the prepa- ration of cosmetics. A wide range of beauty aids with an avocado base are now available. These include creams, cleansers and moisturizers to prevent the ageing effect of dehydration, skin foods, bath oils, shampoos which give a rich lather and act as a scalp conditioner and revitalize dull hair.
Digestive System Disorders
The avocado is an excellent food remedy in acute digestive disorders. Its blandness is comforting to the hypersensitive surfaces of the stomach and duodenum, and its abundant vitamins reanimate the inflamed and crippled cells. The physicians in China have, for centuries, prescribed the juice of this fruit for colic and chills in the stomach.

The avocado is an efficient aid in changing the intestinal flora to combat auto intoxication, colitis, and biliousness. In cases of hyper acidity with sour stomach, avocado and well ripened papaya should be used as a staple diet. These two fruits are most appropriate foods in cases of duodenitis and duodenal ulcer, because they are bland or soothing to the sensitive membrane and pass quickly into the intestine.
Bad Breath
The avocado is far superior to any mouth lotion or remedies for bad breath. It effectively removes intestinal putrefaction or decomposition which is the real cause of a coated tongue and bad breath.
Psoriasis
The oil of avocado is considered beneficial in treatment of psoriasis. It should be applied gently to the affected parts. It helps in taking the scales off.
Precaution : As avocados become sour when cooked and cannot successfully survive, freezing, they should be eaten raw and as fresh as possible. If they have to be kept for a short time, they should be stored at room temperature and not in a refrigerator.
Banana
Banana is known for promoting healthy digestion and creating a feeling of youthfulness. They help promote the retention of calcium, phosphorus and nitrogen—all of which then work to build sound and regenerated tissues. Banana also contains invert sugar, which is an aid to youthful growth and metabolism. Its curative properties are given below.
Constipation and Diarrhoea
Bananas are of great value both in constipation and diarrhoea as they normalise colonic functions in the large intestine to absorb large amounts of water for proper bowel moments. Their usefulness in constipation is due to their richness in pectin, which is water absorbent and this gives them a bulk producing ability. They also possess the ability to change the bacteria in the intestines from the harmful type of bacilli to the beneficial acidophyllus bacilli.
Intestinal Disorder
The banana is used as a dietary food against intestinal disorders because of its soft texture and blandness. It is said to contain an unidentified compound called, perhaps jointly, vitamin U’ (against ulcer). It is the only raw fruit which can be eaten without distress in chronic ulcer cases it neutralises the over-acidity of the gastric juices and reduces the irritation of the ulcer by coating the lining of the stomach.
Ripe bananas are highly beneficial in the treatment of ulcerative colitis being bland, smooth, easily-digestible and slightly laxative. They relieve acute symptoms and promote the healing process.
Dysentery
Mashed banana together with little salt is a very good remedy for dysentery. According to Dr. Kirticar, a combination of ripe plantain, tamarind and common salt is most effective in this disease. He claims to have cured several cases of both acute and chronic dysentery by this treatment. Ripe bananas are also very useful in dysentery of children, but they should be thoroughly mashed and beaten to cream before use in these cases.
Arthritis and Gout
Bananas are useful in the treatment of arthritis and gout. A diet of bananas only for three or four days is advised in these conditions. The patient can be given to eat eight or nine bananas daily during this period and nothing else.
Anaemia
Being high in iron content, bananas are beneficial in the treatment of anaemia. They stimulate the production of haemoglobin in the blood.
Allergies

The fruit is very useful for those who are allergic to certain foods and who suffer in consequence from skin rashes or digestive disorders or asthma. Unlike other protein foods, many of which contain an amino-acid which these persons cannot tolerate and which causes allergy. Bananas contain only benign amino-acids which in most cases automate allergic. The fruit, however, does cause allergic reactions in certain sensitive persons and they should avoid it.
Kidney Disorders
Bananas are valuable in kidney disorder because of their protein and salt content and high carbohydrate content. They are useful in uraemia, a toxic condition of the blood due to kidney congestion and dysfunction. In such cases, a diet of bananas should only be taken for three to four days, consuming eight to nine bananas a day. This diet is suitable for all kidney troubles, including nephrites.
Tuberculosis
Bananas are considered useful in the treatment of tuberculosis. According to Dr. J. Montelvz of Brazil, South America, the juice of the plantain or the ordinary cooked bananas works miracles in the cure of tuberculosis. He claims to have cured patients with advanced stage of tuberculosis with frequent cough, abundant expectoration or phlegm and high fever in two months by this treatment.’
Urinary Disorders
Juice from Banana stem is a well-known remedy in urinary disorders. It improves the functional efficiency of kidney and liver thereby alleviating the discomforts and diseased condition in them. It clears the excretionary organs in the abdominal region of toxins and helps to eliminate them in the form of urine. It has been found to be of great help in the treatment for the removal of stones in the kidney, gall bladder, and prostate. It is advisable to mix this juice whenever possible with the juice of ash pumpkin.
Over-weight
A diet consisting of bananas and skimmed milk is considered an effective remedy for weight reduction. In prescribed course of diet treatment, the daily diet is restricted to six bananas and four glasses of skimmed milk or buttermilk made from skimmed milk for a period of 10 to 15 days. Thereafter green vegetables may be introduced gradually, reducing the intake of bananas from six to four. This prescribed course of diet treatment can be continued till the desired results are achieved. Bananas are suitable for overweight people as they contain practically no sodium.
Menstrual Disorders
Cooked banana flower eaten with curd is considered an effective medicine for menstrual disorders like painful menstruation and excessive bleeding. Banana flower help increase progesterone hormone which reduces the bleeding.
Burns and Wounds
A plaster is prepared by beating a ripe banana into a fine paste. It can be spread over burns and wounds and supported by a cloth bandage. It gives immediate relief. The young tender leaves of banana tree form a cool dressing for inflammation and blisters.
Uses : Ripe bananas are chiefly eaten raw as a dessert or a breakfast fruit. It is also used in salad together with other fruits and vegetables. Unripe fruits are cooked. Banana chips are made from fully mature unripe fruits. The flour prepared from the dried unripe bananas is three times richer in minerals than the wheat. It is more diguible than cereal starches and is, an ideal food for infants and invalids.
Precautions : Banana, taken as a table fruit, must be thoroughly ripe as otherwise it may be difficult to digest. The raw bananas contain 20 to 25 per cent starch. But during the process of ripening, this starch is almost wholly converted with assimilable sugar.
Bananas should never be kept in a refrigerator as low temperature prevents their ripening. The fruit should not be taken by those who are suffering from kidney failure because its high potassium content.
Date
Dates are valuable as medicine for their tonic effect. Being easily digested, they are very useful for supplying energy and repairing waste. Milk in which clean and fresh dates have been boiled is a very nourishing and restorative drink to children and adults alike, especially during convalescence. Its curative properties are given below.
Constipation

The date is a laxative food. It is highly beneficial in the treatment of constipation as the roughage provided by it stimulates sluggish bowels. They should be immersed in water at night and taken after making them into a fine syrup the next morning to secure laxative effect.
Intoxication
Dates are an excellent remedy for alcoholic intoxication. In such cases, drinking water in which fresh dates have been rubbed or soaked will bring quick relief.
Intestinal Disturbances
The nicotinic content in dates is an excellent remedy for intestinal disturbances. According to Metchnikoff, the great Russian scientist, liberal use of dates keeps intact the growth of pathological organisms and helps to establish a colony of friendly bacteria in the intestines.
Weak Heart
Dates are an effective remedy for weak heart. Dates soaked overnight in water and crushed in the same water in the morning after removing the seeds should be taken at least twice a week in this condition. It will strengthen the heart.
Sexual Debility
Dates are highly beneficial in the treatment of sexual weakness. A handful of dates soaked in fresh goat’s milk overnight should be ground in the same milk in the morning. A pinch of cardamom powder and honey should be mixed in this preparation. This becomes a very useful tonic for improving sex stamina and sterility due to functional disorders.
Children’s Diseases
According to Dr. Shyam Anand a date tied to the wrist of the baby and allowed to be sucked by him during teething time hardens the gums and prevents other complaints like fretfulness and diarrhoea. A teaspoonful of paste of the date prepared with honey is an effective medicine for diarrhoea and dysentery during teething. It should be given three times a day.
Precautions : The dates require great care for selection. The sticky surface of the date attracts dust and impurities of the air to settle there. It is, therefore, advisable to purchase the best varieties in good packing condition and to wash them thoroughly before use.
Bangal kins (bael)
The ripe-fruit is nutritious, delicious, aromatic and laxative and both ripe and un-ripe fruit is used for curing many ailments. Its curative properties are given below.
Teething
Boil 10 gms powdered dried pulp of Bael fruit in 150 ml. water till the quantity of water reduced to 20 ml.
5 gms. of this mixed with little honey administered thrice a day for 3 days helps in teething.
Diarrhoea and dysentery
Pulp of unripe bael with Whey controls diarrhoea.
Pulp of ripe bael with water checks diarrhoea.
Preparation made by boiling pulp of unripe or half ripe Bael fruit acts an anti-flatulent and controls acidity, diarrhoea and dysentery.
Murabba of Bael also helps in controlling diarrhoea and dysentery.
Decoction of unripe Bael fruit baked for 6 hrs. with Mishri controls dysentery.
Dyspepsia
Syrup of ripe fruit helps in dyspepsia.
Piles
Pulp of ripe fruit mixed with mishri checks constipation and controls piles.
Vomiting
Decoction of unripe Bael fruit controls vomiting.
Pulp of ripe fruit (20 gms) mixed with water of boiled rice and little mishri controls vomiting during pregnancy
Anaemia
5 gms Powder of dried pulp mixed with milk and little sugar checks anaemia.
Powder of dried pulp with whey with little sugar eliminates blood impurities.
Leucorrhoea

Bael fruit contains many curative properties

Make powder of 10 gms. pulp of bael, mixed with 10 gms. Nagkesar and 10 gms. Rasout. 5 gms of this mixture taken with Maand (boiled-rice water) checks leucorrhoea.
Cholera
50 gms. juice of Bael leaves mixed with little lemon juice and desi khand taken daily prevents cholera.
Whooping Cough
Roast the green leaves of Bael on low flame till they become black powder. Filter them through cloth, 1 or 2 gms of this powder taken with little honey 3 times a day checks whooping cough.
Kanthamala
Make a paste of fresh Bael leaves mixed with pure ghee. Apply the paste twice a day around the neck and cover with a cloth. It helps in eliminated Kanthamala.
Night blindness (Nyctalopia)
Grind 10 gms fresh Bael leaves and 7 seeds of black pepper with little water and mix it with 25 gms of sugar in 100 gms water. Taking this twice a day helps in night blindness.
Also soak a few leaves in water overnight and wash the eyes with that in the morning.
Bronchitis
Poultice prepared from the Bael leaves is applied to the chest in acute bronchitis.
Asthma
A decoction of leaves of Bael helps in asthma.
Diabetes
Juice of Bael leaves with ground black pepper is useful in diabetes.
Chewing 4-6 Bael leaves daily controls sugar.
Urinary Irritation
Juice of Bael-leaves, ground Jeera and Mishri (all in equal quantity) taken with milk stops urinary irritation.
Repellant for mosquitoes and insects
Burning of outershell of the Bael repels all insects and mosquitoes.
Thus the Bael tree is very significant. Apart from nutritional and medicinal value of the ripe, and unripe fruit-pulp the other parts of the tree-its bark, flowers, leaves, trunk etc. have their special properties and uses. Bael is widely used as a medicine in households.
Grapes
The therapeutic value of grapes is closely linked with its richness in pure glucose. Studies have indicated that the production of energy essential for the proper functioning of the heart and organs of high physiological importance depends on the metabolism of glucose. Grapes, therefore, have a restorative effect by virtue of their easy assimilation. They are thus highly valuable in case of weak digestion, general debility and fever. Its curative properties are give below.
Constipation
The combination of the properties of the cellulose, sugar and organic acid in the grape makes it a laxative food. It is highly valuable in relieving constipation. Its field of action is not limited in clearing the bowels only. It tones up the stomach and intestines and relieves the most chronic cases of constipation. One should take atleast 350 grams of grapes daily to achieve the desired results. When fresh grapes are not available, raisins soaked in water can be used.
Dyspepsia
Grapes are valuable in dyspepsia. They constitute a light food which removes indigestion and irritation of the stomach in a short time and relieves heat.
Heart Disease
Grapes are highly beneficial in the treatment of heart disease. They tone up the heart and are effective in cardiac pain and palpitation of the heart. The diseases can be rapidly controlled if the patient adopts an exclusive grape diet for few days. Grape juice will be valuable when one is actually suffering from a heart attack. This will avert serious consequences by reducing the pain and palpitation.
Migraine

The juice of ripe grapes is a very effective home remedy for migraine. It is said that King Jamshed, who was very fond of grapes, once stored the juice of grapes well packed in bottles and made it public that the bottles contained strong poison so as to prevent others from taking it. It so happened that the wife of the king was struck with migraine and having obtained no relief from any treatment, decided to end her life by taking this so called ‘poison’. She took it several times in small doses and contrary to her expectations, it gave her great relief instead of killing her.
Asthma
Grapes are considered useful in asthma. According to Dr. Old field, grapes and their juices are beneficial in the treatment of asthma. He thinks that the patient can recover early if he is kept in a garden of grapes.
Kidney Troubles
Grapes has an exceptional diuretic value on account of its high contents of water and, potassium salt. Its value in kidney troubles is enhanced by its low albumin and sodium chloride content. It is an excellent food remedy in acute and chronic nephrites and in kidney and bladder stones.
Liver Disorders
Grapes activate the liver or hepatic functions to stimulate glycogenic functions and bile secretion They are thus highly beneficial in the treatment of all liver disorders.
Children’s Diseases
Grape juice is excellent blood-builder. It is an effective household remedy and can be preserved in bottles. It is valuable to children in the treatment of constipation and also in the prevention of convulsions due to constipation. The juice is an effective food remedy for infants during teething trouble.
External Sores
Grape poultices have been found effective in case of external growths, where there is an open sore. The poultice is prepared by crushing grapes and spreading them between layers of cheese cloth or muslin It should be placed over the affected parts and covered with a dry cloth. The poultice should be renewed frequently as it absorbs much of the toxin.
Pyorrhoea
The organic acids of the grapes are strongly antiseptic and their effect on the gums is very effective. According to Johinna Brand, ‘‘Every tooth may be loose in its socket and pus may be pouring from the gums, but after a few weeks on the exclusive grape diet it will in time be found that the teeth are firmly set in the jaws and that every trace of pyorrhoea poisoning has disappeared.’’
Alcoholism
Grapes are highly beneficial in the treatment of alcoholism. It is a very effective remedy for those craving for alcoholic drinks as it supplies the parent form of the alcohol. Grapes should form an exclusive diet in treating the alcoholics.
Precautions
Grapes have a poor keeping quality. They undergo quick percolation. They should, therefore, be used soon after purchase or else be preserved in cold storage. While purchasing grapes, care should be taken to ensure that they are fully ripe.
Guava
Weakness
Taking 200 gms. ripe Guava with kaala namak, black pepper and little lemon juice twice a day regularly gives strength and vigour to mental and physical muscles.
Taking ripe Guava with fig and basil leaves after meals checks physical nervousness.
Taking Guava pulp and banana pulp with honey in breakfast eliminates the look of lanky body by making it grow strong and sturdy.
Taking peeled and cut, cheekus and Guava with honey twice a day gives a lot of strength to the body.
Blood-impurities
Taking 200 gms. well ripe Guava with mid day meals daily purifies blood and also improves haemoglobin.
Nausea
Taking juice of Guava leaves or half raw and half ripe Guava (with sendha namak and lime-juice) cures nausea.
Headache
Applying paste of ground green leaves of Guava with little sandal wood on the forehead for half an hour eliminates headache.
Eating a fresh ripe Guava after taking out its seeds is also useful.
Migraine
Applying ground pulp of unripe Guava on the affected part early in the morning for 2 days eliminates migraine pain.
High Blood-Pressure
Taking the oozed out water of the chaat made of Guavas with little sendha namak, black pepper, lemon juice on it twice or thrice a week checks high blood-pressure.
Throat Problems
Gargling with Guava leaves water and salt (fresh guava leaves to be boiled in 400 ml. water till it is reduced to 125 ml. strain it) twice or thrice cures soreness of throat.
Taking ripe Guava pulp with little honey and black pepper clears the throat infection.
Cough
Taking baked Guava (after removing seeds) with honey twice a day controls phlegm.
Digestive and stomach problems

Taking pulp of roasted Guava (after taking out seeds) with orange juice two or three times a day cures indigestion.
q Taking Guava with sendha namak after meals eliminates gas increases appetite.
q Taking ground paste of 8-10 Guava fresh leaves with water cures stomach ache.
Constipation
Taking Guava in breakfast or before meals activates digestion and cures constipation.
Taking Guava pulp, papaya pulp with little black pepper, sendha namak and lemon juice sprinkled on it after meals activates normal movement of bowels.
Taking ripe Guava after meals is also very useful.
Loose Motions
Taking boiled water of Guava leaves 2 or 3 times a day controls loose motions.
Taking ripe guava after lunch with sprinkling of Sendha Namak, black pepper and lemon juice helps in proper digestion.
Guava Chutney with meals is useful.
Arthritis
Taking juice of soft red leaves of Guava plant with water twice a day relieves stiffness of joints.
Applying of paste of Guava leaves on the affected parts eliminates swelling.
Itching
Regularly taking 250 gms. ripe Guava in the afternoon for about 1 month purifies blood, cleans stomach and intestines and thus cures itching due to bowls, pustules etc.
Wounds
Applying paste of Guava leaves on wounds helps In curing the wound.
Urinary troubles
Taking decoction of leaves of 10 gms. Guava and 50 gms. Grapes (Heat theses leaves with 600 gms. water till it is half strain it) before sleep eliminates and cures all urinary troubles.
Piles
Eating Guavas regularly helps in curing piles.
Worms
Taking the pulp of roasted Guava (after removing seeds) with 3-4 drops of garlic juice for one or two days on empty stomach heaps in expelling the dead worms.
Taking pulp of roasted Guava and a Tomato (after removing seeds) with little sendha namak and few drops of lemon juice empty stomach in the morning helps in expulsion of dead worms.
Tooth-ache
Chewing fresh Guava leaves or doing gargles with Guava leaves water (in which guava leaves boiled) eliminates swelling of gums and cures tooth ache.
Other Uses
Apart from the curative properties its wood is very hard and used for making Harmonium etc. on which carving can also be done.
The bark and dry leaves are used for making dyes for clothes.
Guava, because of its nutritive value, is also used as food item. Guava sherbat, Guava Jam, Guava Juice are commonly used as appetiser and tasty drink especially in summers.
Precautions : Guava should not be taken empty stomach because it give rise to phlegm in the body. Don’t drink water after eating Guava for it may lead to cholera.
Mango
Its taste is sweet and little sour, and is very, nourishing. Its name ‘Amraphala’ in ancient treatises bespeaks of its great nutritive value. Its qualities vary with growth. Raw mango is sour and stringent and produces wind and bile. The peeled raw mangoes cut in pieces are dried in sun and that becomes Amchoor. Amchoor is sour and stringent in taste and is carminative, antiphlegmatic and checks wind problems. Ripe Mango is extremely tasty and nutritive fruit. A normal sized mango is more nourishing for the human body than butter or almonds. It strengthens and invigorates all the nerves, tissues, muscles In the brain, heart and other parts of the body. It is ‘Tridoshanashak’ anti-bilious, anti-phlegmatic and antiacidic. It is carminative, digestive, general tonic, aphrodisiac, blood-purifier. It cleans the body of the filth within and is an ideal antidote for all toxic effects inside the body.
Medicinally Desi sweet Aam is the best. Sucking the juice and not eating cut-pieces is better for health. Mango-milk is an ideal combination because milk provides protein, which is lacking in mango and makes it ‘full meal’. Not only does it keep the body, in good and healthy shape, but also it provides sufficient resistance to fight any germs and afflictions.
Mango is not only liked and relished as fruit but many tasty, delicious preparations are made from raw and ripe mangoes like salads, chutney, murabba, pickles, Aaamras, Halwa, Burfi, Kulfi, Aaam papad, Shreekhanda etc. Every part of the mango tree—root, stems, bark, the blossom, fruits have curative and medicinal properties. Apart from these It has many other uses:

  • Aam leaves are tied and decorated as’Vandanvar’ on all religious and auspicious occasions.
  • Aam twig is kept in utensil full of water on auspicious ceremonies.
  • Aam’s wood is considered very pure for sacrifices.
  • Blossoms of Mango (Manjari) is offered to Gods.
  • Its wood is used for making doors, stools and other furniture.
  • Dried leaves are used as fuel.
  • Manure prepared with the help of rotten leaves is used in fields.

Thus Mango is the real ‘King- of Fruits!’.
Antidote : Antidote against eating too many mangoes is:

  • Have few Jamuns over it.
  • Take cumin seeds water over it.
  • Sonth powder with water over it.
  • Ground roasted Jeera with Rock Salt over it.
  • Too much intake of mangoes leads to indigestion, constipation, gaseous troubles, blood impurities and eye-troubles.
  • Water should never be taken after eating mangoes.

Taking Mango pulp mixed in milk or drinking milk after eating mango imparts energy, strength and vigour to the body.
Taking juice of Mango regularly in the evening eliminates physical weakness and improves nervous system.

Mental weakness
Taking 1 cup Mango juice with 1 cup milk, 1 tsp. ginger juice, sugar to taste daily eliminates mental weakness and strengthens the heart.
Hair problems
Massaging the hair with Mango oil (by cooking Kernel of a Mango stone in billing mustard oil. Cool it, strain and store) one or two hours before washing stops untimely greying of hair.
Headache
Applying the ground Kernel of Mango and a small Harar in milk (preferably of a goat) on the forehead gives immediate relief.
Anaemia
Taking mango and milk regularly eliminates anaemia.
Indigestion and stomach disorders
Sucking the juice of mango followed by milk regularly eliminates constipation and indigestion.
Taking 70 gms. of Mango juice and 2 gms. ground sonth in the morning improves appetite and cures indigestion.
Licking ground powder of Mango Kernel with honey or boora in the same proportion gives instant relief in acidity.
Chewing few pieces or sucking the juice of raw mango eliminates indigestion due to fish eating.
Loss of Appetite
Taking the juice of Desi Aaam with little rock salt and sugarcandy-twice a day helps in restoring lost appetite.
Taking Mango Murabba after meals is also very useful.
Diarrhoea
Taking ½ cup sweet mango juice with 25 gms. curd and 1 tsp. ginger juice 2 or 3 times a day controls loose motions.
Taking decoction of the bark of Mango (Boil 20 gms. powder of Mango bark in 1 lt. water till 250 ml. is left) with a pinch of Kaala Namak twice or thrice a day is also useful.
Taking 10 to 15 gms. ground powder of mango stone 2 or 3 times a day cures loose motions.
Applying the paste of mango stone on the navel also is helpful.
Dysentery
Taking 20 gms. juice of fresh leaves of Mango with goat’s milk (preferably) and honey 3 times a day helps in checking dysentery.
Taking the paste of rind of mango tree with honey twice a day checks dysentery
Taking 2 gms. ground powder of stones of mango and Jamun (in equal proportion) with equal amount of Khandsari sugar thrice a day with water is also very useful.
Taking powder of stone of Mango with whey is also recommended.
Taking ½ tsp. ground powder of the leaves of Mango (dried in shade) with water 2 or 3 times a day is also useful.
Vomiting
Taking decoction of the seed of Mango (20 gms. crushed Guthli to be boiled in 1 kg water till 250 gms. water is left) with Desi Shakkar and honey two times a day controls vomiting.
Nausea during pregnancy
Taking ½ tsp. ground Kernel of the Mango stone with sugarcandy mixed in water 3 or 4 times a day controls excessive thirst.
Taking 10 gms. ground paste of fresh leaves of mango with honey 3 or 4 times a day checks this.
Eye problems
Sucking the juice of sweet Desi Aaam helps in curing Nightblindness.
Tying the poultice of mango pulp (by grinding raw mango’s pulp and heating it a little) over the aching eye eliminates pain, redness and irritation in the eye.
Tooth Problems
Applying the powder of seed of mango tooth paste on teeth strengthens the gums and helps in curing all dental problems, foul smell, pyorrhoea etc.
Applying the ashes of burnt dry leaves of mango with little mustard oil and salt as tooth paste makes the gums and teeth strong and shining.
Hoarse Throat
Sipping decoction of the leaves of Mango mixed with honey gives instant relief and clears the voice.
Dry Cough
Sucking the juice of a mango roasted on hot sand clears all the bronchial congestions and gives relief.
Beauty-aid
Taking mango regularly makes the complexion, fair and skin soft and shining.
Eczema
Applying the paste of mango mixed with little rock salt on affected parts gives quick relief.
Spleen problems
Taking 50-60 ml. of Mango juice and 10-15 gms. honey regularly in the morning eliminates swelling and enlargement of spleen.
Stones
Taking 8 gms. finely ground powder of leaves of mango (fresh leaves dried in shade) with water (kept in a glass overnight) daily helps in breaking the stones land throwing them out.
Liver troubles
Taking one drop of raw mango (dropped from the point with which it remains joined with the tree) in a Batasha helps In curing liver problems.
Having tea of mango leaves (in place of tea-leaves) Is also useful.
Insomnia
Taking sweet Desi Mango followed by lukewarm milk at night helps in inducing sleep.
Diabetes
Taking juice of Mango and Jamun (in equal proportion) is good in controlling diabetes.
Piles
Taking the juice of the inner side of rind of mango stem daily is useful.
Taking ground powder of stone of mango 2 or 3 times a day soothens the pain.
Taking 20 gms. ground powder of Kernel of mango stone with whey for few days is advisable.
Night discharge
Applying the juice of Mango mixed with Alum powder and Nausadar below navel before going to bed helps in eliminating this problem.
Leucorrohea
Taking decoction of inside of the bark of Mango tree (1 kg inside portion of the bark to be boiled in 5 kg water till 1 kg is left) mixed with sugarcandy or sugar to taste regularly 2 or 3 times a day, eliminates problem of discharge.
Gout
Massaging the affected part with powder of the Kernel of Mango stone mixed in mustard oil eliminates pain.
Heat Eruptions
Rubbing raw mango over these eruptions gives instant relief.
Worms
Taking powder of Kernel of Mango with warm water kills worms.
Taking powder of the mango stone mixing it with whey is also useful.
Taking decoction of Rind of Mangoes (boiled in water) after dinner kills and clears the worms in the stomach.
Asthma
Taking 5 gms. of powdered Kernel of Mango with water 2-3 times a day is useful in Asthma.
Soil Eating
Taking powdered Kernel of Mango stone with fresh water cures the habit of eating soil in kids.
Taking roasted Kernel of Mango stone is also useful.
Poisonous Insect Bite
Rubbing the mango stone’s semi liquid paste (stone rubbed on wet surface to obtain paste) on the part bitten by scorpion, honeybee, wasp, mad dog, monkey etc. will eliminate the burning sensation and pain.
Applying dry Amchoor powder mixed in water on the affected part cures the spider burn.
Rickets
Giving dried Amchoor powder soaked in pure honey twice a day cures this problem in malnutritioned children.
Giving sweet mango is also useful.
Fever

Orange is the most common fruit used during various ailments

Applying the paste of roots of mango on palms and soles of patient checks and cures fever.
Cholera
Taking decoction of fresh Mango leaves boiled in glass of water till it is reduced to half twice a day helps in curing cholera.
Tuberculosis
Taking 1 cup sweet mango juice with 50 gms. of honey twice a day regularly helps in curing this.
Sun-Stroke
Taking raw mango’s ‘Panna’ (Boil or roast a raw mango, mix in its pulp Gur, roasted ground Jeera, Coriander, salt and powder of black pepper and water) 3 or 4 times a day eliminates the effect of sun-stroke.
Taking it daily in summers acts as a preventive against heat-stroke.
Fire Burn
Applying the burnt ashes of mango leaves on the burnt part gives quick relief.
Applying the Mango Kernel got after rubbing on wet stone on the affected part also is useful.
Orange
The regular use of orange prevents frequent attacks of common cold, influenza and bleeding tendencies. It keeps one healthy and strong and contribute towards longevity. Orange juice, among all the fruit juices, is more suitable for all ages and can be given with advantage in all kinds of diseases. Its curative properties are given below.
Fevers
Orange is an excellent food in all types of fever when the digestive power of the body is seriously hampered. The fever patient suffer from blood poisoning called toxemia and the lack of saliva coats his tongue and often destroys his thirst for water as well as his desire for food. The agreeable flavour of orange juice helps greatly in overcoming these drawbacks. Orange juice is the most ideal liquid food in fevers like typhoid, tuberculosis and measles. It gives energy, increases urinal output and promotes body resistance against infections, thereby, hastening recovery.
Dyspepsia
The orange is an effective food remedy in chronic dyspepsia. It gives rest to the digestive organs and supplies nutrition in a most easily assimilable form. It also stimulates the flow of digestive juices thereby improving digestion and increasing appetite. It creates suitable condition for the development of friendly bacteria in the intestines.
Constipation
The orange is beneficial in the treatment of constipation. Taking one or two oranges at bedtime and again on rising in the morning is an excellent way of stimulating bowel action. The general stimulating influence of orange juice prevent the accumulation of food residue in the colon, which leads to putrefaction and auto-intoxication.
Diseases of Bone and Teeth
This fruit, being an excellent source of calcium and Vitamin C, is valuable in the diseases of the bone and teeth. Disorders in the structure of the teeth usually result from shortage of Vitamin C and calcium and these can be overcome by sufficient intake of orange.
Children’s Ailments
Orange juice is considered an excellent food for infants who are not fed on breast milk. They should be given 15 ml. to 120 ml. of orange juice daily according to age. It prevents scurvy and rickets and helps growth. This juice can also be given with beneficial results to more grown up babies whose normal development is unsatisfactory. They should be given 60 ml. to 120 ml. of orange juice daily.
Heart Disease
Orange juice, sweetened with honey, is highly beneficial in heart diseases. In cardiac conditions like coronary ischaemia and infraction, when only liquid food is advisable. The use of orange juice with honey is a very safe energy giving liquid food.
Difficult Expectoration
The use of orange juice mixed with a pinch of salt and a tablespoonful of honey is an effective food remedy for tuberculosis, asthma, common cold, botanists and other conditions of cough associated with difficult expectations. Due to its saline action in the lungs, it eases expectoration and protects from secondary infection.
Acne
The orange peel is valuable in the treatment of pimples and acne. The peel, pounded well with water on a piece of stone, should be applied to the affected areas. It is said to be more effective, if it is pounded with rain water.
Papaya
It’s digestive properties besides skin glowing capacity is well known. Its curative properties are given below.
Indigestion
Taking ripe papita in breakfast eliminates indigestion, flatulence, acidity and increases appetite.

1 hour 2 before bath eliminates freckles and other blemishes of skin and imparts natural glow and lustre.

Eating ripe Papita daily is also recommended.
Dandruff
Massaging pulp of Papita on the head 10 minutes before washing the hair eliminates dandruff.
Tonsillitis
Gargling with water in which little juice of Papita is mixed cures tonsils.
Milk in breasts
Taking ripe Papita daily helps in getting sufficient milk for the child.
Taking vegetable of raw Papita is also useful.
Menstrual problems
Taking ripe Papita daily regulates menses.
Taking few seeds (powdered) with water is also useful.
High Blood-pressure
Taking ripe Papita half an hour before breakfast checks high blood pressure.
Liver and Spleen disorders
Taking vegetable of raw Papita controls enlargement of liver and spleen of children.
Taking pickles of raw Papita or eating ripe Papita is also useful.
Swallowing ½ tsp ground dried seeds of Papita with water and little salt two times a day also is useful.
Jaundice
Taking 10-12 drops of raw Papita juice on 1 Batasha for
10-15 days helps in curing Jaundice.
Taking ripe Papita daily is also recommended.
Fever
Taking boiled water of Papita leaves eliminates fever.
Filaria
Tying poultice of Papita eliminates swelling.
Piles
Taking ripe Papita in afternoon helps in curing piles.
Applying the juice of raw Papita on fistulas regularly also helps.
Worms
Taking 1 tsp ground seeds of Papita with water for 3-4 -days help in extraction of worms.
Stranguary
Taking ripe Papita regularly eliminates urinary problems.
Pomegranate (Anar)
Anar is digestive, carminative, enhances semen formation, activates memory, destroy disturbances caused by wind, bile, phlegm, improves formation of haemoglobin and is a blood purifier. Sweet and sour Anar is very tasty, usually used in preparing chaat of fruits but is acidic in nature. Sour Anar is very effective in destroying wind and phlegm. Its curative properties are given below.
Tonic
Taking juice of Anar regularly gives physical and mental energy and enhances blood-cells and improves blood circulation.
Indigestion and Stomach ailments
Taking juice (15 gms.) or ripe sweet Anar with ground roasted cumin seeds (Jeera powder) and jaggery twice a day eliminates all stomach problems.
Taking seeds of Anar with powder of Kali Mirch and Sendha Namak sprinkled on it relieves stomachache.
Cold and Cough
Taking one tablet (Make the powder of rind of Anar tree with the sendha namak-mixed with little water to make tablets) 2-3 times a day relieves cough.
Taking tablet (Mix 20 gms rind of Anar tree with 5 gms. black pepper, 3 gms peepal, in syrup of 40 gms jaggery. Make small tablets about 2 gms each) 2 or 3 times with warm water dissolves trapped phlegm and is useful in cough and even Asthma.
Worms
Taking decoction of rind of Anar destroys worms (Grind rind of Anar 25 gms with 3 gms Palash seeds, 5 gms Vayavidang and heat it mixed with water on slow fire till the water is reduced to half, cool and strain it).
Taking 2 gms. of dried ground rind of Anar and oranges with whey and little Kala Namak to taste twice a day kills the worms.
Nose Bleeding
Pouring Anar juice in nostrils helps in checking bleeding.
Taking about 1 cup Anar juice with sugarcandy 2-3 times a day checks nose-bleeding.
Tooth problems
Using the Anar flower powder (after drying the flower of Anar in shade. Grind them and strain.) on teeth helps in curing bleeding gums.

Juice of Pomegranate is very useful in fevers

Diarrhoea, Dysentery
Taking powder of the rind of Anar stem (10 gms. rind dried in shade and ground with 6 gms. roasted Jeera and 10 gms jaggery) two times a day checks loose motions.
Taking 1 cup juice ( 10 gms. rind of Anar dried and ground with 2 cloves and boiled in 1 glass water for 5 minutes) three times a day cures blood and mucus with motions.
Fever
Taking juice of Anar is very useful in fever.
Foul Smell from Mouth
Gargling with boiled water of rind of Anar helps in eliminating foul smell.
Heart Palpitation
Taking 10-15 gms ground fresh leaves of Anar with 1 cup water 2 or 3 times gives relief.
Taking sherbet of Anar gives instant relief in palpitation of heart.
Intestine and Liver Problem
Taking Anar juice regularly cures all intestine and liver afflictions.
Piles
Taking about 6-8 gms of ground rind of Anar with water twice a day helps in curing piles.

Taking 1 tsp ground dried rind of Anar with water twice a day stops excessive bleeding.

Taking ground 20 gms fresh leaves of Anar with ground blackpepper in 1 cup of water twice a day controls leucorrhoea.

Taking 3-4 gms. ground dried rind of Anar with water twice a day regularly eliminates night discharge.
Polyuria
Taking 5 gms. ground dried rind of Anar with fresh water is useful.
Taking Anar flower (dried in shade) with honey twice a day cures too much urinating tendency.
Lices
Applying a paste of dried ground rind of Anar to the hair for halt an hour before wash clears off all the lices.
Beauty treatment
Applying the paste of dried ground rind of Anar mixed with Gulabjal and leaving it for sometime before wash eliminates spots, freckles on the face, improves the complexion, and makes the skin soft and lustrous.
Jaundice
Taking 10 gms of Anar juice (kept in a iron utensil overnight in open but covered with a thin cloth) with Mishri next morning regularly helps in curing Jaundice.
Water-melon
It is a good source of vitamins and minerals. Its curative properties are given below.
High-blood pressure
Juice extracted from the seeds, which contains cucurbocitrin, helps in dilating the blood-vessels, activates the kidneys, brings down high blood-pressure and reduces oedema of the ankles. Juice is extracted by drying the seeds in shade and powdered. Two teaspoons of powder is put in 1 cup of boiling water for one hour. Strained and taken 4 times relieves high blood pressure.
Jaundice
Watermelon helps in curing enlarged liver and jaundice.
Heart Diseases
Thandai made with water-melon seeds mixed with rosepetal, melon seeds, blackpepper, poppy-seeds and almonds in water or milk is very nourishing and imparts strength to heart and brain.
Kidney Problems
One cup juice of water melon kept overnight in the open and taken with Mishri in the morning helps in cleansing the kidneys.
Heat-stroke
300 to 500 gms of watermelon taken with breakfast prevents and cures heat-stroke.

Stomach and digestive problems
Water melon taken with little salt and pepper helps in removing constipation and other problems of indigestion.
Headache
One glass of juice mixed with Mishri taken before breakfast cures chronic headache.
Nausea
One cup of juice mixed with Mishri checks nausea and controls bile.
Mental disorders and Phobia
A syrup prepared in the following manner is to be taken regularly twice daily. 2 kg watermelon crushed and boiled in
1 Lt. water mixed with 4 kg. sugar, 25 gms. Cardamom powder; 20 gms. of Choti Pipal; 30 gm of Vansalochan; 5 gm of Suhaga powder to be made into a thick syrup mixed with 100 ml. of Kewda.
Apart from the curative properties of the inner pulp the outer shell with white portion of the pulp can be used far preparing vegetable, pickles, mixed with curd to form Raita and also sweet petha.
Precaution : Cut out open pieces sold in the market should never be consumed as they are most unhygienic. Lot of dust and bacteria accumulate over them and its consumption may cause cholera and other diseases. Generally the best time to eat water-melon is one hour after lunch.
Emblic myrobalan (Amla)
Amla is unique in this sense that the fruit does not leave its chemical ingredients even when heated on fire. Every single part of the fruit—rind, pulp, seed etc. is used for medicinal purposes. Moreover, Amla tree purifies the air and atmosphere.
Amla is sour and bitter in taste. It controls imbalances caused by Vata (Wind), Pitta (Bile) and Kapha (Phlegm), and is very effective in controlling digestive problems. It strengthens cardiac muscles, invigorates physicl and mental faculties, improves eyesight, imparts natural glow and lustre of the body and hair. It is very useful in diarrhoea and is diuretic in nature. Its regular intake leads to healthy long life. Its curative properties are given below.
General Tonic
Taking one raw Amla everyday in the morning removes general weakness of the different parts of the body.
Taking milk in the morning after licking one teaspoon of ground Amla powder mixed with honey imparts freshness and strength to the body.
Taking the pulp of fresh Amla or Amla juice with honey or ghee in morning and evening sharpens the intellect and invigorates the body
Taking Amla and Black Till (in equal quantity) with honey or ghee cures mental and physical weakness.
Taking one piece of Amla murabba with a cup of plain milk (without sugar) regularly for few days cures general weakness and strengthens weakened brain.
Eye ailments
Taking Amla daily in the morning or 1 tsp. Amla powder with water at night improves eye-sight.
Washing the eyes with Amla water (Soak Amla in water at night and strain it) in the morning keeps eyes fresh, sparkling and improves eye-sight.
Washing the eyes with ground Amla and Till powder water (Soak Amla and Till powder in water over night and strain it) in the morning cures burning sensation in the eyes.
Applying pulp of Amla on the head and washing the hair after massage helps in curing burning sensation in the eyes and heaviness of the head.
Taking Amla powder with milk cures ailment of the eyes like sight loss or cataract.
Washing the eyes with water having triphala powder cures trachoma and other ailments of the eyes.
Eating 10 gms. of Triphala powder with 1 tsp. of honey everyday keeps eyes very healthy strong and sparkling.
Taking 1 tsp. Triphala Powder (Harar, Bahera and Amla) mixed with half teaspoon of Pure ghee everyday in the morning improves eye-sight, cures weakness of the eyes or darkness, coming before eyes.
Heart And Mental Weakness
Taking Amla Murabba everyday in the morning cures physical and mental debility.
Taking fresh juice of Amla mixed with water (in between taking of food) removes weakness of body, mind and heart.
Massaging the scalp with Amla oil before going to bed removes mental weakness.
Taking Amla powder with cow’s milk or Mishri (same quantity) with water gives relief in heart ailments.
Taking Amla Murabba everyday strengthens mental faculties and sharpens memory.
Applying paste made up of dried Amla powder with Kumkum, Neelkamal and Gulabjal cures headache.
Applying paste of juice of 2 or 3 Amla or its pulp mixed with little rose-water and 3 or 4 pieces of Kesar in it on affected part for 15 minutes relieves the pain of migraine.
Night-discharge
Taking 10 gms. fresh Amla juice with 1 gms. powdered Haldi and honey morning and evening regularly cures night discharge.
Taking Amla water (Soak dried Amla powder in 1:3 proportion in water for 12 hours, strain the water and mix 1 gms. Haldi powder) regularly helps in curing night discharge.
Urinary Problems
Taking Amla powder, Kalajeera and 2 gms. ground mishri with cold water cures the habit of urinating in the bed at night.
Taking milk after eating fresh Amla juice or dried Amla powder with Gur cures strangury.
Applying paste of Amla near the navel portion helps in curing urinary problems.
Boil 20 gms. pulp of dried Amla in 160 gms. water till 40 gms. is left. Then mix 20 gms. Gur in it. Drinking this helps in urinary problems.
Taking crushed Amla pulp (after straining it) mixed with mishri cures blood in urine.
Taking 20 gms. fresh Amla juice with 10 gms. honey and water twice a day cures urinating problems.

Myrobalan keeps the body in perfect health

Acidity
Licking one teaspoon of dried Amla powder with honey or ghee after dinner checks acidity.
Leucorrhoea
Taking 3 gms. powdered Amla with 6 gms. honey everyday for one month cures this.
Taking powder of Amla seed with honey or mishri regularly helps in curing it.
Taking 20 gms. fresh Amla juice mixed with regularly for a month checks leucorrhoea.
Blood-impurities
Taking fresh Amla juice or Amla powder in tablet form-checks impurities of blood.
Taking 5 gms. of powder (made from 20 gms. Triphala, 20 gms. black pepper, 10 gms. pure sulphur, 5 gms. of Neem leaves and Mehandi leaves—ground in fine powder form) with a glass of water twice a day cures all impurities in blood.
Diabetes
Taking fresh Amla juice with honey checks diabetes.
Piles
Soak 15 gms. Amla and 15 gms. Mehandi leaves in 400 ml. water overnight. Strain it. Drinking this water checks piles.
Taking 5 gms. of Triphala churna with a glass of whey helps in curing piles.
Taking fresh Amla juice with 1 tsp. ghee, 1 tsp. honey and 100 ml. of milk after lunch cures chronic piles.
Stone in Urinary Bladder
Taking Amla powder with radish helps in checking stone in bladder, breaking the stones and throwing it out with urine.
Diarrhoea
Taking fresh Amla leaves with whey cures loose motions due to indigestion.
Taking juice of 5 fresh Amlas with glucose or grape juice checks diarrhoea.
Rubbing the juice of Amla on the gums of child helps in checking loose motions due to teething problem.
Swallowing dried Amla powder and Kaala Namak (equal quantity) with water cures loose motions.
Dysentery
Taking 20 gms. of fresh Amla juice with 5 gms. honey and 100 gms. of milk 3 or 4 times a day helps in curing dysentery.
Constipation
Taking 1 tsp. dried Amla powder with milk or water before sleep at night helps in discharging bowels easily
Taking strained water of meshed fresh Amlas soaked overnight in lukewarm water, helps in evacuating the bowels.
Taking 4 tsp. fresh Amla juice and 3 tsp. honey mixed in a glass of water relieves constipation.
Worms
Taking about 20 gms. fresh Amla juice daily kills worms.
Cough and Cold
Taking two tsp. of fresh Amla juice with honey twice a day helps in taking out the phlegms. and controls cold.
Taking milk in which a little Amla powder and ghee is boiled in the evening helps in dry cough.
Licking Amla powder with honey regularly twice or thrice a day cures chronic dry cough.
Chronic Fever
Eating Moong Ki Dal with dried Amla powder cooked in it controls chronic fever.
Dryness in the body
Taking tea boiled with pieces of Amla in it mixed with sugar and milk cures dryness of skin.
Itching
Applying Amla churna in chameli oil (Dry Amlas in shade, powder them and mix in chameli oil. The bottle should be kept in shade) on the part of the body where itching is there gives relief.
Baldness
Washing the head with Amla juice mixed water after rubbing the scalp for 10-15 minutes with fresh Amla juice helps in growing of hair cuts. Applying fresh Amla juice on the wound caused by the cut stops bleeding and is an antiseptic.
High blood pressure
Taking juice of fresh Amla or Murabba Amla everyday in the morning controls high blood-pressure.
Anaemia
Taking 1 Cup Amla juice, 2 tsp. honey with little water regularly helps in curing anaemia.
Stammering
Taking one raw fresh Amla everyday relieves stammering in children.
Nose-bleeding
Taking Amla Ka Murabba everyday helps in curing bleeding of nose.
Washing the hair with water in which dried Amlas have been soaked overnight gives relief.
Putting drop of fresh Amla juice in the nostril or smelling the juice or applying the paste of Amla on the forehead helps in checking the flow of blood.
Thirst due to dehydration
Taking Amla juice with grape juice or honey in the form of sherbet quenches thirst and cures dehydration caused by diarrhoea, dysentery.
Hair loss and other problems
Soak dried Amla, Harar, Bahera and Shikakai in an iron utensil overnight. Mash them fine. Washing regularly with this strengthens the hair, imparts glow and lustre, smoothness and blackness and also stops excessive hair-fall.
Applying the paste of dried Amla and Mehandi leaves on the hair 10 or 15 minutes before washing make the hair black and strong.
Applying the paste of Amla powder mixed in lemon-juice on the hair 10 or 15 minutes before washing with Amla water keeps the hair strong and shining.
Washing the hair with decoction of Amla removes dryness of the scalp, checks dandruff and stops excessive fall and greying of hair.
Massaging the head with Amla oil imparts natural glow to hair, relieves mental tensions and induces sleep.
Digestive Problems
Taking 10 gms. fresh Amla juice with 10 gms. pomegranate juice, 20 gms. Jaggery and 2 ground cloves—(a) early in the morning before breakfast and (b) after food—cures constipation, wind-problems, other effects of indigestion.
Taking two tsp. of fresh Amla juice mixed with two tsp. sugar or 2 tsp. dried Amla powder mixed with same amount of Mishri with water cures this.
Taking Amla juice morning and evening—cures chronic indigestion.
Eating raw Amla on empty stomach everyday is very useful for the digestive system.
Taking dried Amla powder and little Kaala Namak with lukewarm water in summer and with honey in winter after meals cures all digestive problems.
Jaundice
Soak 4 munakkas in juice of 4 fresh Amla. After one hour grind the soaked munakkas and mix it with Amla juice. Taking this twice a day gives relief in Jaundice.
Taking and licking little churna (made by grinding 10 gms. each of Amla, dry ginger, black pepper, 3 gms. of Iron Bhasm and little turmeric) with honey cures Jaundice.
Gout
Taking fresh Amla juice with old ghee heated a little regularly for few days relieves stiffness of joints and helps in curing Gout.
Itching, Burning-after Measles Chicken
Taking bath with water having fresh Amla juice in it or having Amlas boiled in it-relieves the itching and burning sensation after measles or chicken pox.
Apply the paste made of Amla and Til in equal quantity ground in cold milk added with 3 or 4 drops of rose water on spots and let it stay for sometime and then wash. This helps in removing the spots.
Boils in Mouth
Doing gargles with water having fresh Amla juice twice or thrice a day gives relief. After gargles apply fresh Amla juice on the boils and let saliva ooze out.
Giddiness, darkness before eyes
Taking fresh Amia juice with honey in the morning cures this.
Taking Harar, Bahera and Amla Churna (Triphala) in one tsp. mixed with ½ tsp. of pure ghee in the morning helps in improvement of eye-sight and curing of giddiness, darkness etc.
Licking one tsp. of powdered Amla With 1 tsp. of honey morning and evening gives strength to the body and cures darkness before eyes.
Lices in hair
Applying the paste of ground seeds of Amla mixed with juice of lemon on the roots of the hair, and washing after half an hour will clear the lices.
Obesity
Drinking a glass of Amla water (in which Amlas have been soaked overnight) with 1 tsp. of honey early in the morning helps in slimming.
Menstrual Disorder
Taking boiled pulp of Amia with honey two times a day relieves one of very scanty and painful bleeding.
Taking Amla juice mixed with ripe banana 3 or 4 times a day during periods checks profuse bleeding.
Insect bite
Applying the paste made of triphala powder mixed with cow’s urine on the affected part relieves the poisonous effect of insects.
Drinking of Amla juice is also very helpful.
