Once there lived a man named Jamal with his wife Fatima. One day, Fatima asked her husband to dig the patch of land outside their hut to plant some vegetables. Jamal agreed. He took a spade and started digging. The spade suddenly struck a metal. Jamal excitedly scraped away the mud and saw a big cooking pot. As Jamal leaned over, his pouch of tobacco fell into it. Jamal bent to retrieve it and was surprised to see two pouches. “Come quickly!” he called to Fatima, “Look what I have found!” Fatima was excited. She put some coins in four or five times. Soon there was a tidy pile of money. She stooped to collect the coins, lost her balance and fell inside the pot.
Soon there were two Fatimas, a complete mirror image of each other. Jamal stood confused for a moment and then jumped into the pot. Soon there were two Jamals. The new Jamal and his wife asked for an identical set of possessions. But how did he recognise his wife? As she was a mirror image, her nose ring was on the left nostril. But the real Fatima had always worn it on the right.
