The pelvic girdle is a link between the trunk (upper part of the body) and the lower part of the body. The hip or pelvic girdle is made up of two coxal (two hip bones : left and right) bones.
Each coxal bone is shaped up by the combination of three bones: ilium, ischium and pubis. These bones bear the entire weight of the body while sitting. It supports the intestines, urinary bladder and other internal organs.
