WAR IS INEVITABLE
Sanjay said to Dhritrashtra, “King! Arjun still is having lingering doubts even after hearing sermons from Krishna on worlds, creatures, objects, soul, God, life and death. The fact of Krishna being his bosom friend is preventing Arjun from accepting Krishna as God. He is yet undecided as to battle or not to battle.” “Oh!” Dhritrashtra sighed exhausted, “In this way the battle won’t reach to any conclusion.
That will be no good. If the battle is not fought Duryodhan shall ever live in fear of Pandavas. I would have preferred some definite outcome. I could then sleep easy. Tell me what is happening now?” Dhritrashtra was very anxious to know which way the wind was blowing. He needed some clue or pointer. Sanjay closed his eyes to beam his insight on the battle field. He spoke, “King! Krishna is now revealing some deep knowledge to Arjun.”
THE SECRET KNOWLEDGE
Krishna said to Arjun, ‘The knowledge now I go to impart to you is very sacred, deep and easy to put to the practice. O dear, those who have no faith in devotion they can not attain me. So, they go on suffering the birth-death cycles. Understand it well that my unmanifest form pervades through the universe similarly as the water exists in snow although it is not visible.
The air is born out of space yet it remains in the space. Similarly the universe is born out of me and remains vested in me. Kaunteya! It is the pleasure that all the creatures are in me but I am not involved with them. I am the causer of the creation. At the end of Kalpa all creatures get assimilated in my nature and I recreate them to start a new Kalpa (Eon). O Dhananjaya, I do all the karmas but they can’t bind me. These physical acts never accrue to me.’
I AM LIFE, AND DEATH AS WELLL
About his human incarnations, Krishna said, ‘O Arjun! The people consider me an ordinary human whereas I am the father, mother, grandparent and shelter of the universe. I am the worth knowing ‘Om’. I am the Rigveda, Samveda and Yajurveda. Among all the religious rites I am Yajna and Tarpan (offering water). I am the fire and the oblation also. I cause the creation and work its doom as well.
I am water and I am air. I am nectar and poison too. Whoever offers me oblations of leaves, flowers and fruits with true love and devotion, I gladly accept them. O Kaunteya, the faithful who keeps me in his mind ever I gain him the unattainable. And I protect whatever he gains. Arjun, those who worship other deities that too reaches me. The only difference is that for their ignorance they gain worldly or heavenly joys for their indirect worship of me. But they remain trapped in metempsychosis.
THE FATE OF A DEVOTEE
O Parth! I am not animus towards anyone or partial to any. In all creatures I exist in equanimity. But one who loves me and worships me with devotion he is my dear friend. O Arjun, if even an evil person shows true faith in me as an aberration he gets reformed into a noble soul. Take it for sure that my faithful is never ruined. So, O Parth, free yourself of the karma bindings and considerations of good or bad consequences. Surrender your ego to Me and battle. Those who are in my shelter they gain the final salvation. If you vest yourself into Me you will also be certainly gaining Me after death.’
