Century plant is a rosette forming evergreen herbaceous perennial succulent. It is popular for its attractive leaves and its huge drooping flower stems. Spineless, fleshy, ovate, light grey to pale yellowish-green evergreen leaves form a large symmetrical rosette. Each rosette will flower only once, usually when the plant reaches about 10 years old. Flowers are followed by seed pods. Additional common names for this plant include lion’s tail, swan’s neck and foxtail. Agaves are wonderful, low maintenance plants for gardens, needing little water or care.
