Geometry is the study of the shape, size and position of objects in space. The word ‘geometry’ is a Greek word, meaning ‘earth’ and ‘measure’. The ancient Egyptians used geometry to construct pyramids and measure pieces of their lands washed away by River Nile during flood. Geometry is divided into two major sections: plane and solid. Plane Geometry is about flat shapes like lines, circles, rectangles, squares, and triangles etc., the shapes that can be drawn on a piece of paper. And Solid Geometry is about three dimensional (3D) objects like cubes, prisms, cylinders and spheres.
