Named after the river it lives in, the Pearl river map turtle is closely related to the Pascagoula map turtle which also has an olive green shell with circular yellow lines. The head, neck and limbs are olive with light stripes. A dark black stripe down its back is the only differentiating feature. They feed on molluscs, insects, fish and clams.
