The turtle frog is a strange looking frog which looks like a small turtle without its shell. The skin is pink and they have small heads, small eyes, short limbs and round bodies. They also burrow forward like turtles in sandy soils whereas frogs burrow backward with hind legs. They prefer semi-dry, sandy regions where they feed exclusively on termites.
