Otters are nocturnal wild animals and domesticating these animals might be a daunting task. Some otters produce and spray a pungent smell, just like the skunk. These animals need a lot of water, preferably rivers, and love to be outdoors all the time. They love to eat fish and can eat up to 15-25% of their body-weight in a day. They are nocturnal animals which love to spend up to 5 hours looking for food. Although there have been cases of some otters being taken in as pets yet they do not make good pets.
Why can’t otters be taken as pets?
