Dragonets are a group of colourful fish, with 139 species, living in sandy bottoms of the ocean. They have elongated, scaleless bodies, flat triangular heads with large mouths and eyes and fan-shaped, tapering tail fins. Males and females are coloured and patterned differently. Copepods, amphipods, worms, crustaceans and small invertebrates make up their diet. Their lifespan is 10-15 years.
