The European lobster has an asymmetrical pair of pincers with one for cutting and the other for crushing prey. They live in holes of coral and rocky reefs. The outer hard shell is shed several times for growth. This blue-coloured lobster turns red on cooking. It feeds on crabs, molluscs, urchins, starfish and worms. Its lifespan is 40 years.
