The helmet cowfish hovers around coral reefs, rocky areas, sand flats and grass beds. It grows up to 4 inches long. Two horns project from its head. It has large blue eyes and a tan body with patches of blue and black. A poisonous substance called ostracitoxin is released when it is stressed. It feeds on macroalgae, worms, crustaceans, molluscs and sponges.
