The Pacific sea nettle is a jellyfish with a transparent to golden-brown bell. They have long, spiralling, white oral arms and 24 maroon tentacles. They catch their prey by their tentacles before stinging and paralysing it. They feed on zooplankton, crustaceans, pelagic snails, small fish, eggs of fish, larvae and jellyfish. They are capable of both sexual and asexual reproduction.
