The pajama cardinalfish inhabits very shallow waters aroundlarge stands of staghorn corals. This 3-inch long fish has a yellowhead, a blue jaw, bright red eyes, a black midsection with a checkered board pattern and a spotted rear. They feed on zooplankton, eggs of fish, polychaete worms and small fish. They spawn every 3 or 4 weeks with males being mouthbrooders.
