Interesting fact : These insects are named such on account of their movement. They paddle in the water, using their long legs and swim on their backs.

The backswimmer is a freshwater insect. But apart from being good swimmers, they also fly well and hence flit easily from one freshwater body to another. Its diet includes tadpoles and small fish. Its bite is very painful to humans.
