Kiyomizu-dera

The Kiyomizu-dera temple was built in 778, in Kyoto, Japan. The Kiyomizu-dera is an independent Buddhist Temple founded in the early Heian period. A large veranda supported by tall pillars overlooks the city. Cherry blossom and maple trees surround the temple, which gives the temple a unique look.

Amazing Fact: An old tradition, which still seems to hold some importance, is to jump off the stage (13 metres high) of the temple, so as to have your wish granted. Over the years over 250 tourists have attempted jumping off.
