St. Peter’s Basilica

St. Peter’s Basilica was built between 1506 and 1626, in Vatican City, within Rome, Italy. St. Peter’s Basilica is one of the largest churches in the world and the most renowned work of Renaissance Architecture, which includes the breathtaking dome that was designed by Michelangelo. According to Catholic tradition, the Basilica is the burial site for St. Peter, one of Christ’s Apostles, and also the first Pope.


Amazing Fact: It is said that the 25.5-metre obelisk at the centre of St. Peter’s square could be from the 13th century BC, ancient Egypt.
