Interesting fact : When threatened, the large white caterpillar emits a foul odour to threaten its predators.
5 to 6.5 cm of wingspan, the large white caterpillar has white wings with black tips. However, the caterpillar of this butterfly has hair-like structures all over its body and is yellow and green in colour with spots. Its diet consists of specific food plants chosen by it over time with experience. Unlike other insects, the large white caterpillar does not rely on its sense organs, but rather learn what types of food it prefers. Eggs are laid on the underside of the cauliflower leaf.
