Blue Domed Church

The Blue Domed Church, or the Church of the Holy Cross, was originally built between 1835-1840 in Perissa, Santorini.
There are many blue domed churches on Santorini, but the Church of the Holy Cross is the largest one. The blue domed church with a slender bell tower, striking frescoes on the interior and a white cross on the dome maintains aesthetics and architectural patterns as much as religious sentiments.

Amazing Fact: The dome of the church is painted blue because it is an important colour symbolizing the sea and the sky reflected around Greece.
