45-50 mm of wingspan, the red admiral is a beautiful colourful butterfly. As an adult, it feeds on the nectar of various flowers including Aster, Butterfly bush, Daisy, etc. The larvae feed on false nettle plants. A resident of warm climates, this butterfly migrates in winters. Eggs are laid on the leaves of the host plant on which they feed after hatching until they are ready to pupate.
