The Pura Besakih is a temple complex, located on the slope of Mount Agung, in Bali, Indonesia, built in the 17th century. The entire complex contains 23 temples that sit on parallel ridges. All the temples are aligned on a single axis containing stepped terraces and stairs leading to courtyards. At the centre is the main sanctuary that contains the lotus throne, which is regarded as the ritual focus of the complex.
Amazing Fact: The entire temple complex was miraculously saved from lava that erupted in 1963 from Mount Agung by a few metres.
