A stonecutter was very unhappy with his life. One day, he saw a monk and thought, ‘I wish I were a monk.’ Lo! Magically, the stonecutter became a monk. He started to preach people but he had to live in the forest. One day, the monk looked towards the sun and thought, ‘I wish I were the mighty sun.’ Thus, he became the sun and shone brightly. His heat troubled living creatures. However, a stone was unaffected by his strong rays. He thought, ‘I wish I were the powerful stone!’ The sun became a stone. Just then, the stone felt a blow on its surface. It was being hammered and chiselled with sharp tools. ‘Who could be more powerful than I?’ it thought. It looked up and saw a stonecutter. He became a stonecutter again and lived happily.
