Little Elly had a big brother called Jack. They both loved each other. Jack was a young sailor. When he visited home after his voyages, he always used to tell Elly about the places he had seen. He told Elly that during one trip, when the bread on the ship was finished they had to eat sea-biscuits instead. Elly wanted to see how a sea-biscuit looked like. Jack promised that he would send her one sea-biscuit once he returned to his ship. Jack remembered his promise. Elly received a little parcel a day or two after Jack had left. She was surprised, but felt very important. When she opened the parcel and found the sea-biscuit, she jumped with joy. “There is one good thing about brother Jack,” exclaimed Elly, “he always does what he says!” She admired Jack because he never forgot his promises.
