It lives in alpine meadows, forages on grassy slopes and finds shelter in foothills of rocky cliffs. Their diet consists of grass and shrubs. It is the responsibility of the female sheep to look after the lambs, and forage for food. The large-sized males eat and rest. The ewes deliver the lambs in a place which is safe from predatory animals.
