The Bullet Ant Gloves are an initiation rite that forms a part of the culture of the Satere-Mawe people of Brazil.
Do you know: To complete the initiation ritual, the candidate undertakes the ritual a total of 20 times over a span of time.
This test must be undertaken by the boys of the Satere-Mawe tribe, in order to become warriors. For this test, each boy must don gloves made of leaves for a full 10 minutes. Bullet Ants are rendered unconscious and then woven into the gloves with their stingers facing inwards. Once the ants regain consciousness, the boy must slip his hands into the gloves.
