The Baby Throwing ritual takes place amongst the Hindu and Muslim Indians in the states of Maharashtra and Karnataka in India.
Do you know: The ritual requires a baby to be tossed through 30 feet of air.
The Baby Throwing ritual is carried out at a religious shrine, where a man scales a wall 30 feet high with a baby not more than 2 years old dangling in a bucket behind him. The man hands the baby from the bucket to the handful of men standing at a balcony, who hold the baby by its hands and feet and toss it down to 15 odd men who wait with a blanket, held under, to break the baby’s fall.
