The Salty Bread Romance is a custom followed by unmarried women in Armenia.
Do you know: The unmarried women eat salty bread only in the hope of having prophetic dreams.
As a part of the celebrations of Saint Sargis, who is an Armenian, is the patron saint of young love, women eat salty bread, so that when they go to bed they may have dreams where young men are carrying them water. They believe that the gentlemen in question could be their future husbands. The custom is also a wonderful way for women in the family to bond.
