One day, the Yadavas went to the beach. As usual, they were merry-making, with lots of dance and music, and drinking a lot of wine. Soon they lost all sense of good conduct and began to behave very badly, teasing, mocking and quarrelling with one another. A major argument began between Kritavarma, who had fought on the side of the Kauravas, and Satyaki, who fought for the Pandavas. “What a great warrior you are! You killed sleeping soldiers!” mocked Satyaki. “You were a coward, killing the unarmed Bhurisravas!” said Kritavarma in reply. The Yadavas cheered on both the men, each group defending its side and violently opposing the other. Very soon, they came to blows and, in a short while, there was complete chaos as the Yadavas fought one another. Satyaki pulled out his sword and killed Kritavarma. The others took up pots, jugs, drinking cups to attack one another.
