Seeta kept crying aloud for Rama as Ravana fled with her in the Pushpaka Vimana. She threatened Ravana telling him of Rama’s powers and sometimes she pleaded with him to let her go. Ravana, however, was deaf to all her pleas. She began to drop the pieces of jewellery hoping that they would provide a trail for Rama and Lakshmana when they came looking for her. He took her to Lanka and placed rakshasis around to guard and serve her. He tried to impress her with his wealth and power, but Seeta was steady in her devotion to her husband. She was sure that Rama would come and slay Ravana in revenge for having abducted her. He had single-handedly killed Ravana’s army, she told him. Frustrated and angry, Ravana gave her one year to accept his offer. If she did not, she would be killed. Seeta was in despair, but she was not afraid.
