Benjamin, the lamb, was quite sure that he would win the race. A fair was being held outside the village and all the lambs would participate in the race. But that afternoon when all the farm animals reached the fair ground, Benjamin found to his dismay that the race was meant only for the farm dogs! He was so disappointed that he sat in a corner and wept. Clarrie, the old sheepdog, found him there and said, “Don’t worry, Benjy. You just go along and run!” “But they’ll chase me away!” wept poor Benjamin. “Let them just try that!” said Clarrie, in a very stern voice. So when the race began, there was Benjamin running along with the dogs! Everyone shouted and cheered, for none had seen a lamb running the race! Clarrie jumped and barked loudly and Benjamin left all the puzzled puppies behind as he reached the finish line!
