It was a terrible summer. The sun blazed mercilessly and there were no clouds or rain. All the animals and the birds at the farm were miserable because Farmer Pebbles gave each one only a small share of water. One day Molly, the duck, came waddling into the barn where all the animals and the birds were resting. “Do you know what I heard today?” said Molly. Everyone crowded around her. “I heard the croaking of frogs!” announced Molly. The large sow grunted and went to sleep. “Haven’t you anything good to tell us, Molly?” growled Morgan, the large sheepdog. “You are very foolish!” declared Molly, “Don’t you understand what the croaking of frogs means?” “No, we don’t,” said Morgan. “It means it’s going to rain soon!” said Molly, “So, get ready for a lovely shower!” That night, the rain poured down heavily and the farm animals came out to enjoy a rain dance!
