“I’m a horse!” announced Reg, “I am a noble animal! I go to war!” Bud, the donkey, snorted, “You are not used when Christmas comes and the scene of Jesus’ birth is put up in the church! I am always there, and so are the cows and the sheep!” They had been arguing about this for quite a few days. The sounds of their neighing and braying had disturbed the baby Hugh’s sleep and he was hollering loudly. Mrs Umber, the baby’s mother, came charging out with a rolling pin. “Now you two, just shut up! Or I’m going to thrash you!” she announced, “You’ve woken up little Hugh and I can do nothing while you kick up suck a racket!” There was complete silence in the stable. As soon as she went back, the two realised they were really silly. They both had to work on the farm!
