Farmer Golding had a palomino horse named Nat. He did not like to waste time gossiping with all the farm creatures but spent his day working, having his meal and standing silently while everyone jabbered. The creatures had named him No-Nonsense Nat! But one day, they found Nat standing near the fence, looking dreamily around and sniffing the flowers. “He’s forgotten to have his oats!” said Marge, the sheep. “And the farmer is waiting to go to the market!” announced Ben, the rooster. They wondered what the matter was. Suddenly, they saw a beautiful chestnut mare trotting towards the fence. Nat seemed to be behaving in the most peculiar way, throwing up his mane and tossing his head! “He’s fallen in love!” said Marge, “That’s Farmer Vole’s Julie!” And that’s how Nat transformed and ended up marrying Julie! Now, they were both on Farmer Golding’s Farm and had a foal who’s called Gold!
