Farmer Lewis brought Nancy, his pretty bride, home. She loved the farm and all the creatures on it. Very soon, she had learnt the work at the farm and Lewis was very glad to see her busy and happy. However, one day, he found her in a very thoughtful mood and asked her what the matter was. “Lewis, I love flowers, especially roses,” said Nancy, “Can we grow them here all the year through?” Lewis knew all about farms but he had never grown roses! He was puzzled, but he said they could try. Next morning he went to Mrs Granger and learnt about roses and bought books on gardening. He set about making a greenhouse for Nancy and brought in lots of rose plants and cuttings. Nancy and Lewis worked together and now they had roses even in winter! In fact, Nancy had a shop in the village selling flowers!
