A Mate for Sally

Sally was a swan who was brought to Mr Robert’s farm with great care. She arrived in a large carton with holes in it and was driven down from the station by Mr Robert himself! Everyone clustered around to see Sally, even the farm animals and birds. Sally came out very ruffled after the journey and looked around at everyone. She was really beautiful! With great care Farmer Robert carried her to the large pond that had been made, especially for her. As soon as she saw the water, she flew in, and settled down near the rushes. People came from the village and other farms to see Sally. One day, Mrs Robert said, “I think Sally feels lonely, for she has no mate. Shall we get her one?” And soon, Farmer Robert was carrying another carton and Sally’s mate arrived at the farm. Now, people came to see Sally, Bob and their cygnets swimming around the pond!
