People residing on the shores of British Columbia saw human feet clad in running shoes being washed ashore. Forensic anthropologists declared that the feet showed the indications of separating from the bodies during decomposition in a natural articulation process. The reason for the occurrence after 2007 was due to advancing shoe technology wherein sports shoes are using air pockets or light foam in their designs. This allows them to be light enough to float and to be washed ashore. The coast of British Columbia is prone to this because of its current patterns. This explanation put a stop to panic, speculation and exaggerations by the public.
