The Bouvet Island Lifeboat

Bouvet is an isolated land in the coast of Antarctica. In 1964, Lieutenant Commander Allan Crawford visited the island and saw a lagoon and an abandoned lifeboat. There were no markings on it that would suggest its origins. It also had neither motor nor sails. The oars were found on shore, along with a flattened copper tank and a barrel. There was no evidence that people had stayed on the island or died on the island. There was nothing. Two years later, another expedition found the lagoon but Crawford’s lifeboat was missing. The mysterious lifeboat of Bouvet Island raised too many unanswerable questions.
