Seven-year-old Zach lived with his aunt Helen in a little house. He had lost his parents in a car accident and since then his aunt had been taking care of him. One day, the children were playing a game of football, when Zach kicked the ball so hard that it soared and fell into Mr. Cohen’s garden. None of the children wanted to get the ball from the garden because Mr. Cohen was known for his temper. He was an 80-year-old petulant man and did not like children. He found them pesky and troublesome. Ultimately, since Zach had kicked the ball, he had to go and get it. In the process, he had to hear from Mr. Cohen. A few days passed. One morning, Zach heard his aunt talking over the phone. “Mr. Cohen’s house is on sale and I would like to buy it. He died yesterday.”

Zach is Troubled
Zach was stunned. He did not want his aunt to buy Mr. Cohen’s house. “Please aunt, it is better if you do not buy that house,” said Zach earnestly. His aunt was confused. “Is there any particular reason? Our house is too small for both of us. You will need your own room and study. Also, that house is not too expensive and I can afford the price. It’s a very good deal,” said his aunt. “Obviously, it’s cheap because no one else will buy it. Why don’t you look for some other house in the neighbourhood?” said Zach, raising his voice. “I do not understand why you are panicking so much! There should be some good reason why you do not like that house. Also, I won’t be able to afford any other house in this neighbourhood,” said his aunt. “Of course, it is haunted. Mr. Cohen’s ghost roams there. He himself told me,” said Zach. Aunt Helen was speechless.

I Will Get You
Then Zach told his aunt about an incident that had occurred a few days ago. A couple of boys had gone near his garden when he yelled and threatened them. “Don’t ever step into my garden or my property ever again! Even after my death, I will continue to live in this house as a ghost. Mark my words,” he said to the boys, who were so terrified that they just scooted off from the place. Zach’s aunt hardly believed his story. Despite repeated pleas from Zach she went ahead and bought the house. Immediately, after they had moved in strange things started happening. They would hear shouts from the kitchen but would see no one there. One day, as Zach opened the kitchen cupboard, he heard a voice roar, “I will get you!” Zach peeped inside but he could not see anyone. His aunt just refused to believe him.

The Death Threat
After a couple of days, aunt Helen heard someone knocking at the door late at night. When she asked who it was, a voice replied. “Get out of my house. If you continue to stay here I will kill you,” said a spooky, hoarse voice. Aunt Helen was so scared that she ran back to her bedroom and went off to sleep. The next morning, she forgot about it, thinking it was a dream, and did not share it with Zach. That night, again there was a knock. This time even Zach heard it. “Why haven’t you left till now?” said the voice, “Do you want to die?” This time aunt Helen believed that the voice belonged to Mr. Cohen. So, both the aunt and the nephew packed their bags and left the house. After the incident no one was able to stay in that house for more than a few days.
