The legendary Deathworm is, said to resemble a large fat worm, up to 3 feet long and dark red in colour, with spike-like projections at both ends. It lies hidden beneath the desert sands, and scrupulously avoided by the locals. It can kill in several fearsome ways, including spitting a stream of corrosive lethal venom, and can also electrocute its victims from a distance. Legends and stories must have some basis in historical truth. There were no live or dead ones that have been found. Gobi desert would likely preserve the carcasses of these animals, due to its hot desert winds that slow decomposition.
