The hares were in panic. They called a meeting and wondered how to deal with the herd of elephants. Finally an old hare said, “You leave it to me. Let me think. I’ll find some way to solve our problem.” The hares were puzzled how the Old One was going to find a solution. But they had faith in him and so they left it to him. The Old One sat and thought for a while. “The elephant is a huge creature. I am only a tiny hare. He will listen only to someone bigger and more important than he. So, I must appear bigger and be more important,” Having decided this, the Old Hare climbed on top of a hill one night. He called out to King Elephant. “Sir, I am a messenger from Lord Moon,” he said. The elephant bowed to him and asked him what Lord Moon’s message was.
