Clap, Clap

The children gathered around the old banyan tree. Many people said there was something spooky about the tree, but it was a hot afternoon. The children wanted to play in the shade. It was Barney’s turn to be the blind man. Now, Barney was not much liked by the other boys, so they decided to trick him. They blindfolded him and then ran home. “One, two, three,” said Barney. He fumbled about. “Clap, clap!” the sound was in his left ear. “Clap, clap!” this time at his right ear. Barney followed the sound for almost 15 minutes, but was not able to trap anybody. “I give up,” he said, and he removed his blindfold. He looked around. He had strayed towards the desolate riverside in the park. “Clap, clap!” This time it was behind him. He swung around. No one! A terrified Barney ran straight out of the park, not looking back till he was safe at home.
