Luke and Edgar were roommates. They had just moved into a new apartment. One weekend, they were watching television when they heard the phone ringing. It was not Luke’s mobile phone, neither was it Edgar’s. Then what was ringing? On a dusty table in the corner of an unused bedroom, lay an old telephone. The boys had not noticed it when they had put their luggage in the room. Luke picked the phone up. “You will be dead,” whispered a hoarse voice. Then it went dead. Panic-stricken, the boys immediately called the police. The police tried to trace the call, but reached a dead end. In the morning, a policeman picked the telephone up to make a call. It was dead. On further examination, they found that the wires of the landline had been cut. So, no human could have called them! Luke and Edgar left the strange apartment at once.
