The soft whining woke Sally up. ‘Who is whining? It is raining so hard!’ she thought. She was surprised to see a soaking wet brown shaggy dog at her door. “What happened, little fellow?” she asked gently. The dog ran out in the rain towards the sewage pipe, yapping nervously. Curious, Sally followed. She was surprised to see three little pups stuck and whining inside the pipe. “Oh, no! Your babies are stuck in the rain.” Saying this, Sally patted the dog. She reached inside the pipe and slowly pulled out the pups, one by one. It was difficult since the pups were scared. However, she cooed and lovingly brought them out. Sally was teary-eyed seeing the mother with her pups. The dog repeatedly licked her pups first. Then she ran to lick Sally, wagging her tail excitedly. Sally kept the dog and the pups with her. Hearing this, many of Sally’s friends adopted homeless stray dogs. Her example saved many street dogs from a harsh life.
